My City Block

A data gathering exercise capturing the colors of the leaves on my city block.

Overview

Inspired by David Hunter’s Data Walking project, I preformed a series of “data walks” around my city block once a month for a year. On each walk I collected the leaf color and coverage of the 51 trees on my city block. After gathering the data in a notebook each month, I translated each entry into a JSON file and generated a unique image. As a collection, the images track the changing leaves throughout the calendar year.
